Giovanni Barbato

Throughout his career, Giovanni Barbato has collaborated with some of the leading lighting companies, including Vistosi, Axolight, De Majo, AV Mazzega, Prandina, and AV Light, combining product design with consulting in the fields of communication, marketing, and product development. His ability to combine planning, design culture, and strategic vision allows him to approach each project with a cross-disciplinary approach, integrating aesthetics, function, and brand identity.

The collaboration with Vistosi stems from a shared appreciation of Murano blown glass as a material for research and experimentation. For the company, he designed the Aria, Mirage, Surface, and Scintilla collections, four projects united by a simple language that emphasizes the purity of glass and the quality of light. Through rigorous geometries and light forms, each collection enhances transparency, reflections, and volumes, allowing the material to become the true protagonist of the project. Scintilla, with its distinctive shape inspired by an inverted chalice and solid crystal base, represents the perfect synthesis of technological innovation and artisanal mastery, transforming light into a dynamic and emotional experience.

In 2013, Giovanni Barbato received the prestigious Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design for the Spiry lamp, a recognition that cemented his place in the international lighting design scene. Today, he continues to develop projects that combine research, technical expertise, and a profound knowledge of glass, creating collections that combine innovation, elegance, and artisanal value.
