Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is one of the most prestigious names in international luxury hospitality. Founded in Toronto in 1960 by Isadore Sharp, the company redefined the concept of guest experience through an approach centred on service excellence, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Today, the group operates more than one hundred hotels and resorts worldwide, establishing itself as a global benchmark in the luxury hospitality sector.

The origins of the brand can be traced to the vision of Isadore Sharp, who, while still a young architect working within his father’s practice, designed a motel for a family friend. The success of that project inspired him to pursue his own vision of hospitality. He acquired a site in what was then a neglected peripheral area of Toronto and developed the first Four Seasons Motor Hotel, which opened in 1961. In the decades that followed, the company expanded rapidly, introducing a new model of luxury accommodation that combined comfort, refined design, and highly personalized services.

Among the brand’s flagship properties is the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, opened in 2012 in the prestigious Yorkville district. Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, the hotel embodies a refined balance of contemporary elegance, sophisticated architecture, and exclusive hospitality. Its 259 guest rooms, carefully curated interiors, and welcoming dining and social spaces create an environment of exceptional prestige, conceived to offer a distinctive and immersive experience in the heart of the Canadian city.

Within the hotel’s dining and living areas, Vistosi’s Giogali collection takes centre stage. Designed in 1967 by Angelo Mangiarotti, Giogali is widely regarded as one of the brand’s most iconic collections. It revolutionized the language of decorative lighting through an innovative modular system based on a single hand-crafted crystal element. The repetition of this module gives rise to fluid and highly theatrical luminous compositions, transforming light into a true architectural feature.

In this project, the collection is featured in its ceiling-mounted version through two striking installations that engage in a refined dialogue with the hotel’s contemporary and minimalist interiors. Multiple pure crystal hooks create elegant cascades of light that enhance the perception of space and generate a sophisticated interplay of reflections. The installation dedicated to the relaxation area consists of two circular elements measuring approximately 50 centimetres in diameter, with an overall height of one metre. The second composition, conceived on a larger scale, features a diameter of one metre and a vertical development of approximately two and a half metres.

Both installations are set within carefully crafted ceilings characterized by soft, rounded forms designed to echo the fluid geometry of the luminous compositions. The result is a harmonious balance between architecture, design, and light, where hand-crafted glass becomes the focal point of the space, contributing to an atmosphere that is exclusive, refined, and distinctly contemporary.
