German Design Award 2025

Vistosi presents Anisette, Faro and Riketta

Vistosi’s journey in the international design scene continues with three new nominations for the German Design Award 2025.
Regarded as one of the most prestigious awards on the international design scene, the German Design Award is organised by the German Design Council, a German institution that has for many years been helping to promote and raise the profile of design culture internationally. The award recognises projects and companies that stand out for their design quality, innovation, functionality, aesthetics and ability to respond to contemporary needs.
For the 2025 edition, Vistosi has nominated Anisette, Faro and Riketta – three collections that showcase different approaches to lighting design and glasswork, all united by a quest for a balance between form, material and functionality.
The nomination for the German Design Award is part of a well-established track record for Vistosi, which has received major accolades in the field of international design over the years. Among these, the Groove collection, designed by Hangar Design Group, received a Special Mention in the Excellent Product Design – Lighting category, whilst the Sata lamp, designed by Favaretto&Partners, won an award in the 2019 edition.

Anisette

Designed by Francesco Lucchese, Anisette draws inspiration from the observation of a natural, everyday phenomenon: the effect created when aniseed liqueur is diluted with water. The design captures this distinctive visual effect through the use of frosted glass, creating soft, evocative forms in which light and material interact. The collection is also characterised by a unique mounting system that allows the height of the light source to be adjusted, adding a functional element to the formal design. Anisette thus reinterprets glass through a contemporary lens, transforming an image inspired by everyday life into a lighting fixture with a strong decorative character.

Faro

The Faro collection, designed by Oriano Favaretto, draws inspiration from the landscape of the Venetian lagoon, its expanses of water and the constant interplay of transparency and opacity. The design stems from careful research into the balance between glass and light. An LED light source concealed within the structure provides diffused, uniform light, whilst the glass form takes centre stage in the lighting experience. The result is a collection with a minimalist character, capable of evoking the serene and relaxing atmosphere of the lagoon environment through a contemporary design language.

Riketta

Also designed by Oriano Favaretto, Riketta stands out for its sculptural and instantly recognisable form. The design draws inspiration from the archetypal shape of the egg, reinterpreted through a white opal glass body and a structure composed of metal rods. The contrast between the softness of the glass form and the lightness of the structure creates a visual balance that gives the lamp a strong presence in the space. Thanks to its various configuration options, Riketta is suitable for a range of environments and design contexts, whilst keeping the relationship between form, light and material at the heart of the design.

A new opportunity for international dialogue

Anisette, Faro and Riketta represent three different interpretations of the Vistosi philosophy: designing light through glass, highlighting its material qualities and transforming it into an element capable of defining a space.
The three nominations for the German Design Award 2025 therefore represent a new opportunity to bring Vistosi’s research to the attention of an international jury and to showcase, through three different projects, the value of Made in Italy and the tradition of Venetian glass, reinterpreted through contemporary design. This marks a new milestone in Vistosi’s international journey, spanning research, design and the culture of light.
