Chiari di Lunae turns 10

When Light Meets Jewelry

Presented at Euroluce 2015, Chiari di Lunae today celebrates ten years as one of Vistosi's most exclusive projects. Born from a collaboration with Morellato, a leading Italian jewelry brand, and the Di Virgilio Veneziano studio, this limited-edition lighting system represents the meeting of two worlds united by the same attention to detail, materials, and craftsmanship.

More than a lamp, Chiari di Lunae is a true work of light: a precious composition that blends the tradition of Murano blown glass with the refined language of contemporary jewelry, creating an object capable of exciting and surprising.

Chiari di Lunae was born as a reinterpretation of the StarNet collection, transforming its modular system into an even more precious creation. The pure hand-blown crystal rods are embellished with jewel-like elements inspired by the eponymous Morellato collection, creating a luminous pattern reminiscent of the lightness of suspended fabric.

Light passes through the crystal, reflects on the pearls, and interacts with the brass and matte black finishes, creating a balance between material, transparency, and luminosity. The result is a scenographic composition that interprets light as both a decorative and architectural element.

The inspiration is rooted in Venetian culture: in precious brocades, textile embroidery, and the centuries-old tradition of Murano glass. Chiari di Lunae reinterprets these references through a contemporary language, bringing together design, fashion, and fine craftsmanship.

Even the name evokes this imagery: the moonlight reflecting on the pearls becomes a metaphor for a delicate and timeless beauty, capable of enhancing both the glass and the jewelry.

The collaboration with Morellato stems from the desire to unite two companies that have made quality, research, and craftsmanship the core of their identity.

Founded in Venice in 1930, Morellato is today one of Europe's leading jewelry and watchmaking groups, internationally recognized for its ability to combine elegance, innovation, and affordability.

As Massimo Carraro, CEO of the Morellato Group, stated:

"In Chiari di Lunae I rediscover the same modernity, stylistic innovation, and harmonious cohesion of the different elements that characterize our collections of jewelry to be experienced."

For Matteo Moretti, CEO of Vetreria Vistosi, the project also represents a perfect synthesis of light and matter:

"The birth of an extraordinary product that lives by its own light, a lightweight object, beautiful to observe and to experience every day, where the intertwining of light, glass, jewelry chains, and pendants creates a luminous and precious combination."

The project by Di Virgilio Veneziano

A key factor in the creation of Chiari di Lunae was the contribution of Di Virgilio Veneziano, a studio founded in 2007 by Gianni Veneziano and Luciana Di Virgilio. Always oriented towards transversal design, the studio explores the languages of interior design, product design, interior architecture, and communication, developing projects in which aesthetics, function, and narrative coexist in perfect balance.

Their creative approach stems from a desire to transcend disciplinary boundaries, creating experiences capable of engaging the public on both an emotional and visual level. Each project is conceived as a story, in which materials, light, and forms interact to build a recognizable and timeless identity.

In Chiari di Lunae, this design sensibility finds one of its most accomplished expressions. The lighting system transcends the traditional concept of a light fixture to become a delicate and sophisticated stage presence: a composition reminiscent of the lightness of a jewel suspended in space, where blown crystal and precious elements intertwine in a balance of light, reflections, and transparencies. A project that interprets light as an emotional material, capable of embellishing architecture and creating atmospheres of extraordinary elegance.

Ten years after its introduction, Chiari di Lunae continues to represent one of the most refined and iconic creations in Vistosi's history. Its strength lies in its ability to unite two seemingly distant worlds—that of decorative lighting and that of fine jewelry—in a single design vision, where glass becomes a precious material and light enhances every detail.

The project illustrates the intersection of artisanal tradition and contemporary research, demonstrating how blown glass can transcend its function to become an expressive language capable of engaging with art, design, architecture, and fashion. Even today, Chiari di Lunae remains as relevant today as ever, confirming the value of a project born to excite and destined to endure.

More than celebrating an anniversary, Chiari di Lunae illustrates a way of conceiving design: based on research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and collaboration between Italian excellences. This approach has always characterized Vistosi's philosophy and continues to guide its evolution.

The project also demonstrates Vistosi's ability to develop custom solutions for exclusive clients, collaborating with some of the most prestigious international luxury brands. Thanks to expertise built over five centuries of glassmaking tradition and ongoing research and development, the company creates custom lighting installations that perfectly balance design, engineering, and craftsmanship. Each project begins by listening to the project's needs and translates into a unique solution, enhancing spaces through light, glass, and the excellence of Made in Italy.
